Connected load in power system

Connected load

The sum of the continuous ratings of all the equipment connected to the system is called as connected load.

Every consumer in power system will have some electrical equipment being installed. The sum the ratings of all these equipment forms
connected load of that consumer. For example, if a consumer has two lamps of 40 W each and a fan of 80 W, then connected load of the consumer is 2×40 + 1×80 = 160 watts. Similarly adding all the connected loads of all the consumers forms the connected load on the power system.
